Along a 0.3 mile stretch of Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling in Penang you find four places of worship. These structures represent not only the religious diversity of Penang, but also the artistic, architectural, and cultural diversity of the lovely island. The street is often called the Street of Harmony.
From north to south:
St. George’s Cathedral, Christian
Goddess of Mercy Temple, Buddhist
Mahamariamman Temple, Hindu
Kapitan Keling Mosque, Muslim
A local favorite in Penang is steamboat. It’s simple and delicious. I offer no other explanation besides the pictures and their captions.
There is a pretty good Italian restaurant adjacent to the G Hotel in Penang. I found this tasty dish on the menu: a spicy pasta sauce with mussels, clams, squid, and prawns.
A vestige of being a former British colony is that you can find a full English breakfast at almost any hotel in Penang.
